Mike Richards - Club
Development Officer
Mike has been with the club for 11 years. Starting out like many
watching his son then 6 (now 17) on a Sunday morning at Pinewood. All
went well i.e. duties went no further than putting up Samba goals,
until an U9 summer tournament at Bracknell Town, when Mike was asked
to manage the "C" team, which beat the "A" team
and caused an upset by reaching the semi final. From there he was
asked to coach the Panthers team, and together with the rest of the
coaching team over the next 5 years, saw what was an East Berks Div 3
team develop into a North East Hants Premier League team, finishing
4th two seasons in a row and reaching the League Cup semi-final.
In 2004 Mike took up the role of Club Chairman, over-seeing the
introduction of goal keeper training in the Club and a number of
other improvements. He retired in 2007 with his son moving to another
Club but has remained with Pinewood, taking up his current role as
Club Development Officer, with the primary objective of replacing the
ageing Club house and proposing a Club Development Plan.
Proudest football moment - watching his son play in the North East
Hants representative side and win the Southern Counties Inter-League
Cup in Southampton.
